Spring, food security and possibilities: the not surprising connection
Posted March 31, 2018 by Chris Evans at 10:53 AM
Spring makes us think of possibilities, new growth and beginnings, with the budding trees, emerging flowers, and longer days.
We’ve been experiencing a little of that here at Feed Northland Kids. Exciting times planning for the 2018-2019 school year and involving corporate and civic groups in our mission. This time of year provides an easy analogy for the role consistent and nutritious food can play in seeing the full potential and bloom for the future of our northland kids. Read on for some highlights and other ways you can continue to help!
Kansas City Metro Men’s Choir
Many thanks to the Kansas City Metro Men’s Choir! Your beautiful voices attracted a nice crowd of music lovers and supporters, raising $2,000 for our mission!! Enjoyed talking with many of you after the performance while munching on cookies provided by the fabulous KC Royal Diamond’s group. Thanks to North Cross UMC for serving as a gracious host!
2018 LiveWell Grant Recipients
Thrilled to be one of the 13 nonprofits supported by the Liberty Hospital Foundation. Monies from this grant will help us continue to meet our goal of feeding children each school weekend, for the 2018-2019 school year. Funds are secured through a massive half-marathon and 5K in early March.
Teachers ensure students don’t go hungry
Our favorite sentence in this story “Our students rely on us for more than just education, so we are trying to help them during this time”.
