Unbelievably true, school begins in less than one month!

New school year brings returning hungry students

Mid-August will bring tens of thousands of elementary students back into Northland schools. If trends from the past several years hold, school counselors and social workers in each school will identify nearly 3,200 children who lack food during the weekends. In the Northland, about 34% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch and within that group, 30% will need the 4 lb packet of food that we call a BackSnack. It is our mission here at Feed Northland Kids to raise funds to ensure these kids have the nutrition they need!  For a more indepth look at how poverty has spread from cities to more suburban areas, review this article and interactive map.
