Community Food Kits provide school-aged children and their families with wholesome, everyday food that delivers a big impact and full plates. Six Northland school districts – Liberty, North Kansas City, North Platte, Platte County, Smithville and West Platte – participate in the monthly program, which is tailored to meet the needs of each community.
Community Food Kits consist of a grocery bag of fifteen shelf-stable items, including pasta, peanut butter, tuna, chicken, cereal, granola bars, and canned fruits, vegetables and soups, plus fresh bread and frozen meats. Some locations also feature a large box of fresh produce. Partners like Hy-Vee, C&C Produce, Roma Bakery, Balls Foods, and Green Grass Cattle Company help make Community Food Kits a vital resource for our neighbors in need. This model meets families where they already are – within their school communities – delivering consistent, nutritious food in a way that’s accessible, reliable, and rooted in local connection.
