Community Food Kits

Community Food Kits

Our Community Food Kit program began as an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has evolved into an essential, ongoing effort to combat food insecurity among local children and their families.  Six Northland school districts – Liberty, North Kansas City, North Platte, Platte County, Smithville and West Platte – participate in the program, which is tailored to meet the needs of each community.

Kits consist of a grocery bag of fifteen shelf-stable items, including pasta, peanut butter, tuna, chicken, cereal, granola bars, and canned fruits, vegetables and soups, plus fresh bread and frozen ground beef.  Some locations also feature a large box of fresh produce.  Partners like Balls Foods, C&C Produce, Green Grass Cattle Company, Hy-Vee, and Roma Bakery help make Community Food Kits a vital resource for families in need.
